Schools to open with air purifiers and free Rapid Tests

From: Dan Andrews

“School is finally back in just over a week.
And I know a lot of you are worried about coronavirus potentially spreading in the classroom.
I’ll be up front – cases will pop up at schools.
But we know the best place for students to be is in the classroom, which is why we’re doing absolutely everything we can to make them safe.
From the start of term one, Victorian students and staff from prep to year twelve will be given two free rapid antigen tests per week.
They’ll be able to do the test before heading to school, and they’ll be absolutely free of charge.
It won’t be mandatory for kids to get tested before they go to school, but obviously it’s strongly recommended to help keep themselves and others safe.
Free RATs are a big part of our plan – but it’s not all we’re doing.
51,000 air purifiers will be in place at schools on the first day of term.
Teachers are being vaccinated in record numbers. 99.7% have had two doses, and like other critical workers they’ll also be required to have a third too.
The best weapon against this virus has always been vaccines, so if you haven’t already – book the kids in for their vaccine today.
We’re doing everything in our power to make sure that schools are as safe as possible.
And to help make sure when kids go back to the classroom on day one of term one, they can stay there.”
