‘Save ECFCOM’ meeting 15 October
Baw Baw Shire have arranged an open meeting to discuss whether a new ECFCOM (Erica Community Facilities Committee of Management) can be formed. The meeting will be in the Erica Public Hall at 6:30 pm on Tuesday 15 October. Everybody with an interest in the control and maintenance of their community’s local facilities is encouraged to attend. ECFCOM operated as a ‘Section 86’ Committee of Baw Baw Shire Council and was responsible for the management of Erica facilities such as the Memorial Hall, Mill Park and the Recreation Reserve. Section 86 Committees are required to operate within very specific guidelines determined by the Shire, but are typically responsible for the management of most aspects of the services available including bookings, cleaning, financial control and maintenance. Council staff are always available to provide assistance when needed.
If a new committee cannot be formed, Baw Baw Shire staff will directly manage the Erica facilities as is already the case with Bells Hall and the Gymnasium in Rawson.
