Two reported cases of COVID19 in East Gippsland have been confirmed as
being ‘false positives’ after being retested. False positive results can
occur when the patient has other underlying medical conditions, or the
testing procedure did not provide a clear result. To prevent possible
infection of case contacts, marginal results are always presumed to be
positive until subsequent tests provide a definitive result.
