COVID rules from 28 July 21

From the Premier, Dan Andrews press release Tues 28 July 2021

“I’ll get right to what you want to hear – lockdown will lift at 11.59pm tonight.
To every single Victorian who has done the right thing over the last fortnight – thank you.
Because of you, we’ve managed to do what very few other places in the world have done – get ahead of community transmission of the Delta variant.
Like I said yesterday – we’re not out of the woods yet. There are still thousands of Victorians in quarantine, and with this highly infectious variant we need to remain vigilant so we can stay open.
That means checking in – everywhere, every time.
Wearing a mask – indoors, and outdoors.
And getting tested – no matter how mild your symptoms are.
I know that the vast majority of Victorians are already doing those things – which is why we are able to open up cautiously.
From 11.59pm the requirement to stay at home will be lifted.
Restaurants and cafes can open for seated service. Live music venues, dance classes, and physical recreation facilities including gyms can reopen, and community sport is back.
Weddings will be permitted with a maximum of 50 people, and so will funerals.
You can gather with friends and family in public in groups of 10, but private gatherings in the home will still not be permitted.
And in welcome news for families, kids can get back to the classroom.
In this outbreak we’ve seen Victorians doing the right thing – with record testing numbers, and tens of thousands of Victorians quarantining to keep our state safe.
It hasn’t been easy – but because of our hard work, we can get back to the things we love.”
