When 000 is not the best call, try these…

Favorites 20h

One out of every four calls made to triple zero today won’t be for an emergency.
They’ll be calls for non-urgent problems, from people that don’t really need an ambulance.
And every time these calls come in, it takes call takers and paramedics away from the people who need them most.
If you need urgent medical attention, you should always call triple zero.
But with our ambos already stretched, and our hospitals facing massive pandemic pressure – non-urgent calls can delay ambulances for the people that need them most.
So please – before you pick up the phone and dial those numbers, be sure it’s a medical emergency and that you need an ambulance.
And if not, call your local GP, a pharmacist – Nurse on Call, or even the 24/7 Coronavirus Hotline.
Make the right call. Save triple zero, and you might just save someone else’s life too.
