Windsor Old and Windsor New

With the assistance of a State Government Heritage Council grant, Walhalla’s iconic Windsor House is in the final stages of having a new roof installed The old roof was very deteriorated and not good for the structural integrity of this historically significant building.

As properties in town must comply with Council heritage requirements, the replacement roof is old fashioned galvanized iron which will age over time and eventually develop a rusty red appearance. Modern colourbond has a shiny appearance and does not comply with good heritage practice which is a very important part of preserving Walhalla’s character.
