The Walhalla Cricket Club has advised:
“It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that COVID19 has claimed another community event. A Bushfire Recovery Cricket Match was planned for Sunday November 7th. Today, considering the current COVID travel restrictions, emergency services COVID safety plans and government “Roadmap” we have decided that this match will be postponed.
You may all remember that in February 2019 Walhalla lost 4 homes to bushfire. The same fire destroyed the famous Walhalla Cricket Ground. The WCC had enough time to repair the ground before COVID struck and since then we have been battling to arrange a recovery match.
A big thank you to Mike Shaw (Baw Baw Shire Recovery Officer) for all his work in trying to get this match together.
Hopefully we can get to play this game before the next bushfires threaten the town!!”
