GIPPSLAND COVID CASES

TRARALGON

The Latrobe Valley in Gippsland has recorded one active case of COVID-19

COVID-19 commander Jeroen Weimar says the person works at two fast food restaurants in Traralgon.

Thirty-six primary close contacts have been identified, and 33 have since tested negative to COVID-19.

“Acquisition is underway, we have a pretty good line of inquiry back to Melbourne,” Mr Weirmar said.

“We’ll confirm the details of that in the course of the next 24 hours.”

SALE

Meanwhile, two COVID-19 exposure sites have been listed in nearby Sale.

An authorised worker traveled to Sale on Monday, worked at the Telstra exchange building between 10:30am and 4:00pm, then spent half an hour at the Matador Motel.

A Gippsland Region Public Health Unit spokesperson said it posed “no risk to the public”, as there were no others at the sites at the time.

They also said a case listed in the area this morning was no longer in the region.
