ABC Gippsland have reported that COVID-19 wastewater fragments have been detected in the Moe/Newborough areas.

The Gippsland Region Public Health Unit is asking those experiencing any symptoms, no matter how mild,  to get tested. A spokesperson for the unit says primary close contacts that have had a test and received a negative result, should get re-tested if symptoms subsequently appear.

There are no known cases of COVID-19 in the Latrobe City local government area, but the public health unit is urging the community to remain vigilant.

Testing sites:
 Moe Senior Citizens Centre – walk-up. Open until 4pm today and 9am – 1pm tomorrow, Friday 17 September.
 Dorevitch Pathology at Latrobe Regional Hospital – drive-through by appointment. Open until 4.30pm today and 10am – 4pm tomorrow, Friday 17 September.
 Morwell Respiratory Clinic – by appointment. Open from 9am – 5pm weekdays and 9am to 2pm Saturday.

Gippsland Water will now undertake intensive wastewater surveillance over the coming days.
