Gippsland train services will be replaced by coaches after a COVID-positive train driver visited the Southern Cross and Traralgon stations earlier this week. The train driver visited the Traralgon depot and spent time in the V/Line recreation room on Monday.
Coaches will replace Bairnsdale and Traralgon trains until at least Monday.
The Traralgon train station has been cleaned, and is not yet listed as a coronavirus exposure site. “At this stage there are no public exposure sites and nothing for the public to be concerned about, “Chris Miller, a spokesperson for the Department of Transport said.
“As far as we know, the only exposure is to other V/Line staff. But more information may come to hand.”
He said 110-operational staff are now in isolation.
“We are working really hard to minimise the disruption… but people coming in this morning will need to use coach services to Pakenham, and then from Pakenham continue their journey on, on a metro train. We just ask people to be patient.” (
